The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting management and school principals with the continued development, implementation and monitoring of the occupational health and safety programs and the staff/student wellness program.

  

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Establishing and implementing a safety and wellness culture within Wolf Creek Public Schools
  • Development of occupational health and safety policies and procedures
  • Coordinating safety training of staff
  • Occasional training of staff in areas such as First Aid and WHMIS
  • Management of the on-line training software Hour Zero

Qualifications: 

  • Experience in understanding the operation of a K-12 educational system including a balanced perspective of the various work sites and contexts including school, transportation, facilities, and district office.
  • School-based administrative experience would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of safety legislation and guidelines, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Codes, WHIMIS, the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, WCB Regulations, related legislation, trends and best practices.
  • Ability to conduct Occupational Health & Safety inspections and audits and make effective recommendations.
  • Knowledge of general safety, environmental and ergonomic principles.
  • A high level of emotional intelligence with a strong ability to develop and maintain interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to use, calibrate and maintain relevant industrial hygiene and safety monitoring and test equipment.
