The Inclusion Coach plays a central role in supporting staff and students so that all students can achieve success to the best of their abilities. The Inclusion Coach provides both direct and indirect services to support students with diverse learning needs.  These supports may include:  team teaching,   planning and developing adaptations and programs, instruction, professional development, support for educational assistants working with students, communication with parents and accessing the WCPS Inclusive Learning Services members, division personnel and outside agencies.  


We have a variety of positions that are both  full and part time with duties to commence on August 30, 2017.


Assignment:

  • Act as a member of the school based collaborative team (Inclusion Coach, Teacher, Administration, Educational Assistant, School Social Worker, etc.) The team’s focus is on supports and interventions for students who are identified by the team.

  • Schedule, facilitate and record meetings.

  • Initiate and coordinate transition planning.

  • Complete required paperwork and appropriate storage of documents, including DocuShare updates.

  • Liaise with WCPS Inclusive Learning Services team to ensure ongoing communication.

  • Work with the WCPS Inclusive Learning Services Team and the School Social Worker to provide community supports for students and families with diverse learning needs.

  • Provide input and support to the administrator and staff as the school accesses interagency supports and services.

  • Together with the classroom teacher, and under the direction and supervision of the administration, provide direction and guidance to educational assistants working with students.

  • Continually increase professional knowledge and skills through participation in professional development activities and personal research and share knowledge and expertise with colleagues in the school and school division. This may be on an informal basis as well as through formal presentations.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Valid Teaching Certificate

  • Background in Special Education or experience with diverse learners would be  beneficial

  • Experience with Level B Testing would be  beneficial

  • Coaching experience and the ability to collaborate and work as a part of a team

  • Teacher Leadership experience would  also an asset

Primary responsibilities of the position:


The Coordinator of Inclusive Services  is responsible for the leadership, management, and service delivery to support the Department of Inclusive Learning Services within Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS).  Coordinator of Inclusive Learning Services Key Functions are:  

  • Work as a part of the Inclusive Learning Services Team and with other departments to advance the vision and Three Year Plan  of WCPS.  

  • Promote and support inclusive practices within WCPS.

  • Work with administrators, inclusion coaches and division office staff to support their strategic plans in the area of inclusive learning.

  • Take a leadership role in the areas of supporting literacy for diverse learners K-12, assisting with  programming for students with complex needs, building capacity with a team of Inclusion Coaches, Educational Assistants, Teachers and School Leaders.

  • Work with WCPS students, teachers, administrators, inclusion coaches, families, division level personnel to provide and coordinate service delivery and supports for students with diverse learning needs.  

  • Support the coordination of our Regional Collaborative Services Delivery Model (RCSD) which includes:  speech and language, OT/PT, interagency  work and other supports needed for students with diverse learning needs within WCPS.

  • Work with principals and school personnel to establish and maintain collaborative teams to enhance intervention supports.  

  • Work with school and division personnel to determine professional development needs related to inclusive learning services. Provide presentations for professional development within the school division on identified topics and areas of need.  

  • Have background knowledge and experience in the early years and elementary education.

  • Maintain current knowledge of effective practices to meet diverse learning needs and share information with our Division Office Support team, Inclusive Learning Services, and School Personnel.

  • Manage, coordinate and complete the submission of Inclusive Learning Services data required by the school division and Alberta Education


Qualifications:
  • Extensive experience with programming supports and differentiation.

  • Competencies in the area of literacy/numeracy programming and interventions

  • Completion of or working towards a Master’s Degree would be an asset

  • Training and/or experience in the area of the education of diverse learners

  • Leadership experience in coaching, consulting and/or administration

  • Educational experience K-12, with  some experience in an elementary setting would be an asset.  

  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team setting

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.  

  • Ability to work independently and to travel on school division business

  • Ability to lead teams

    • Teaching positions vary from approximately 0.30 FTE to 0.95 FTE in each location depending on enrollment for the  2017-18 school year.

    • Positions work from approximately August 30 to June 20 each year.

  • Positions for this pre-kindergarten program are located within the Elementary Schools in each of these communities. These classes operate on various morning or afternoons each week.

Qualifications and/or Assets:

  • Bachelor of Education Degree required.

  • Early Childhood Degree programming not required, but would strongly be considered an asset.

  • Experience in providing programming to students that are 3 and 4 years of age would be considered an asset.

  • A friendly, reliable, creative and caring educator that inspires and engages children.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Willingness to work in a team-oriented learning environment while providing direction to others.

  • Ability to understand and implement play-based programs in a positive learning atmosphere.
