The one day camp was designed to provide board members and school/system leaders in education with a rich cultural experience. Participants were able to learn from Elders, and Cultural Advisors, as they shared First Nations, and Métis history, culture, and traditions. The path to reconciliation within the school communities begins with acquiring knowledge and gaining a deeper understanding; therefore, the Culture Camp focused on building Foundational Knowledge to support reconciliation in education. Over one hundred and twenty participants from WCPS and divisions across Alberta attended the camp. We were honoured to have the following presenters:
Students from the Ponoka Outreach, Ponoka Elementary and Ponoka Secondary ensured the Elders were cared for during the day and were strong ambassadors for WCPS.
