What is Social Emotional Learning?
Wolf Creek Public Schools is committed to welcoming, caring, respectful and safe learning environments (Government of Alberta, 2021) that support a proactive approach for students and staff to positively develop social and emotional skills. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is an integral part of education and human development which is a high priority for Wolf Creek Public Schools. When students experience SEL they gain knowledge, attitudes and skills to manage emotions, build healthy relationships, set goals and make decisions (Alberta Government, 2021). SEL advances educational equity and excellence through authentic family-school-community partnerships to establish learning environments and experiences that are trusting, collaborative, and meaningful.
