Lacombe Outreach School Celebrates the Class of 2025

The 2025 graduates of Lacombe Outreach School were celebrated on June 13 in a ceremony that reflected their personal journeys, individual strengths, and the unique pathways that brought them to this milestone.

Twenty-seven students crossed the stage, each with a story of perseverance and growth that was honoured by family, staff, and guests. The value of flexible learning, the strength of community support were underscored, as those gathered expressed the pride felt across the school and division.

“This evening is a testament to perseverance, dedication, and the power of finding the right path,” said Assistant Principal Darcy Blum. “What began as an individual quest for the right educational setting became a remarkable journey of self-discovery and accomplishment.”

Wolf Creek Public Schools Superintendent Tim De Ruyck acknowledged that the route to graduation is not always a straight line, and that’s what makes the achievement so meaningful.

“You each have demonstrated the drive, the focus, and the determination to stay the course,” said De Ruyck. “Whatever the pathway looked like to get here, these are all success stories.”

Board Trustee Kelly Lowry brought greetings on behalf of the Wolf Creek Board of Trustees, sharing a message that tied the graduation theme, Enchanted Forest, to the experience of navigating the outreach model.

“Like any forest, your path to graduation has been winding — sometimes shadowed, sometimes lit by the stars,” said Lowry. “But each of you found strengths within, and as you continue through the Enchanted Forest, you’ll find even more.”

Lowry also acknowledged the school’s staff and the essential role they play in nurturing student success. “Our teachers are the master arborists, nurturing each student’s individual growth... truly understanding that every tree in this forest has its own unique way of reaching for the light.”

Graduates were also reminded of the practical and personal skills they’ve gained — self-direction, adaptability, resilience — and encouraged to approach the future with authenticity and kindness.
