Alberta Education has made some changes to busing eligibilty.

Again this upcoming school year, WCPS will be implementing the new distance criteria where we have capacity.  Alberta Education has extended the mandatory implementation of the new eligibility distances from September 2024 to September of 2025.

As we did for the 2023-2024 school year, we will be phasing in more service where and when we can, the rate of this depends on the availablility of additional buses to add to our fleet as well as additional fulltime bus drivers available for hire.

Students returning to in-class learning in September MUST register for busing.

All students who were not attending in-school classes or who were not riding the bus during the 2023-2024 school year were removed from the transportation system and therefore must register to ride in September for the 2024-2025 school year.

Video Surveillance on School Transportation Vehicles

In order to provide for the personal safety and security of students and personal property belonging to the Division, the Division supports the use of video surveillance practices on student transportation vehicles believing that such practices shall through deterrence, encourage good behavior and promote safe practices.

Student misbehavior increases the potential risk of injury or damage to property. As the behavior of students is a significant factor in the safety and efficiency of school transportation systems, the Division supports the use and implementation of video monitoring practices on student transportation vehicles as needed, in accordance with the procedures established herein.
