Malcolm Tisdale Appointed Assistant Principal of École Lacombe Junior High School

Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Malcolm Tisdale as the new Assistant Principal of École Lacombe Junior High School, beginning in the 2025/2026 school year.

Tisdale brings a strong background in both education and leadership, with a focus on student engagement, school culture, and collaborative support. He began his teaching career at St. Andrew’s School in High Prairie, where he taught grades 4 to 12 physical education, junior high math and science, and served as Athletic Director. In 2021, he joined Alix-MAC School, teaching a range of subjects including physical education, math, science, and social studies. In addition to teaching, he led as Athletic Director and Career Counsellor, helping students plan their courses and prepare for future pathways.

“Malcolm’s leadership style is rooted in connection and collaboration,” said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. “He leads with energy, empathy, and a student-first mindset, and he brings a strong sense of purpose to every team he’s part of. We are thrilled to have him join the Lacombe Junior High leadership team.”

In September 2024, Tisdale was appointed Assistant Principal at Alix-MAC School. In that role, he led inclusion and program planning, coordinated educational assistants, managed student discipline and safety drills, and organized both athletic and academic recognition events. He has worked closely with local sponsors, hosted sports tournaments, and built positive school culture through his servant-leadership approach. Tisdale is currently completing his Master of Education in Educational Leadership through Yorkville University and holds certifications in both SIVA and VTRA.

Now residing in Lacombe, Tisdale is looking forward to giving back to the community he calls home.

“I am honoured to join the team at École Lacombe Junior High,” said Tisdale. “I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive, and inspiring environments where students and staff feel supported to grow and succeed. I’m excited to build relationships and serve this incredible school community.”

With this appointment, WCPS is now accepting applications for the Assistant Principal position at Alix-MAC School.
