Joe McQuay Appointed Assistant Principal of Iron Ridge Secondary Campus

Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joe McQuay as the new Assistant Principal of Iron Ridge Secondary Campus (IRSC) for the 2025/2026 school year. McQuay brings a strong commitment to student success, school spirit, and collaborative leadership to his new role.

McQuay teaches mathematics and physical education at IRSC and is the school’s athletic director. Before joining Wolf Creek Public Schools, McQuay taught at Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer and Alix M.A.C. School. His experience across different schools and communities has provided him with a well-rounded understanding of student needs and school operations.

"Joe brings passion, commitment, and a collaborative spirit to this leadership role," said Sonja Dykslag, Assistant Superintendent of People Services. "His dedication to serving the Blackfalds community and building a positive and supportive school culture will make a meaningful impact at Iron Ridge Secondary Campus."

McQuay is currently enrolled in the WCPS Aspiring Leaders program and recently completed his Master of Education degree from St. Francis Xavier University, with a focus on Administration and Policy. His educational background, combined with his dedication to leadership development, makes him a strong fit for the Assistant Principalship.

"I am excited and honoured to join the administrative team at IRSC," said McQuay. "As a member of this community, I am committed to working alongside students, staff, and families to build a strong, supportive, and thriving school culture."

McQuay will assume the role of Assistant Principal at the commencement of the 2025/26 school year this Fall.
