Re: Alberta Government Closes All K-12 Schools Province-Wide Due to COVID-19: Effective Immediately

Dear Wolf Creek Public Schools Parents and Staff:

On Sunday, March 15, 2020 at 4:30 pm, the Alberta Government ordered the immediate cancellation of all Kindergarten to Grade 12 classes in the province, to limit the spread of COVID-19. This cancellation also applies to ALL SCHOOLS in Wolf Creek Public Schools.

This order comes from Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Sunday, March 15, 2020, and Alberta Education.

To be clear, this order means ALL STUDENTS ARE TO REMAIN HOME FROM SCHOOL INDEFINITELY, effective immediately (March 15, 2020).

Wolf Creek staff will still be expected to attend schools and school division facilities to help coordinate learning for students, and continue school and division operations. Please note, staff are reminded to adhere to the COVID-19 zero tolerance illness protocol issued Saturday, March 14, 2020 and remain home if cold and flu-like symptoms are present.

We know that this is an evolving situation, and understand that there are many questions to be answered around supporting your child’s learning opportunities in the coming weeks. We are working to get those answers for you and will continue to update you as we have more information from Alberta Education.

Safety of students, staff, and families in Wolf Creek Public Schools remains our primary concern. I want to genuinely thank you for your understanding, patience and cooperation, as we all work through this unprecedented circumstance. Please know Wolf Creek Public Schools remains fully committed to working with all stakeholders to make the necessary changes to ensure our students will be successful this school year.

Sincerely,

Jayson Lovell
Superintendent
Wolf Creek Public Schools
