ASET honoured as 2024/25 Wolf Creek Friends of Education Award Winner

Wolf Creek Public Schools (WCPS) is proud to announce that the Association of Science and Engineering Technology (ASET) has been selected by the WCPS Board of Trustees as the Wolf Creek Public Schools’ 2024/25 Friends of Education Award recipient.
This award recognizes individuals and organizations whose contributions have made a lasting impact on students, schools, and learning across the division.
For the past two and a half years, ASET has been a remarkable partner, helping to enrich science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) learning throughout WCPS. Through their sponsorship and delivery of hands-on STEM camps, more than 150 students have had the opportunity to explore real-world applications of science and technology, sparking curiosity, confidence, and career interest.
“This partnership has been incredibly impactful,” said Wolf Creek Public Schools Board Chair Luci Henry.
“ASET’s support has not only expanded access to engaging STEM experiences, but it has also helped students imagine themselves in future roles as engineers, technologists, and innovators. The Board is honoured to name them this year’s Friends of Education.”
Superintendent Tim De Ruyck praised ASET’s efforts, noting the alignment between their work and the division’s vision.
“We are grateful for partners like ASET who see the value in investing directly in students,” said De Ruyck.
“Their camps are more than just hands-on activities—they’re powerful, practical learning experiences that make a lasting impression and help build brighter futures.”
In addition to celebrating ASET, WCPS also recognized a group of outstanding nominees for their ongoing dedication to student success:
- Clive School Parent Council – For their commitment to enhancing school facilities and supporting student well-being.
- Lacombe Connex – For providing essential transportation services that enable students to participate in work experience opportunities.
- Pranorm Williams – For her passionate efforts to foster school spirit, inclusion, and community engagement.
- Paul’s No Frills Ponoka – For supporting student programs such as Santa’s Anonymous, the Nutrition and Breakfast Program, and youth employment.

Wolf Creek Public Schools extends its sincere appreciation to all nominees and congratulates ASET on this well-deserved recognition as the 2024/25 Friends of Education Award recipient.
